Course Outline for
Defensive Driving
This course is offered to all
students from 16 years of age and older
AIM OF COURSE:
The goal of driver educations is to instill a more responsible attitude in the
student. We feel this is absolutely necessary for the safe operation of a motor
vehicle. This responsibility includes being courteous, predictable and artful.
CLASSROOM
LESSONS: Twenty-five (25) hours in-class instruction is given on the
principles for safe driving, rules of the road, driving in adverse conditions,
alcohol and drugs and their effect on driving ability, legal aspects of
insurance and much more. Included in the program will be regular tests and
appropriate films.
IN-CAR LESSONS:
Twelve (12) hours of in-car lessons are given for standard training and ten
(10) hours of automatic training. These lessons are provided under the strict
direction of provincial government qualified instructors.
TEMPORARY
PERMIT: Students should have a valid G1 permit or greater in order to
commence to the in-car portion of the program. (Students are able to
attend in-class sessions without G1 permit)
INSURANCE
SAVINGS: Graduate certificates will be recognized by the insurance
industry. Graduates may be eligible for up to a maximum 41% insurance
savings
